…From the series of large woodblock prints Thirty-six Views of Mont Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai (Japan, 1760-1849), I’m sharing with you: ”The Great Wave off Kanagawa”, “Rainstorm Beneath the Summit”, “Sundai, Edo”, “Ejiri in the Suruga Province”, “Tea house at Koishikawa”, “Shore of Tago Bay, Ejiri at Tōkaidō”, “Bay of Noboto”, “Mount Fuji reflects in Lake Kawaguchi”, “Asakusa Hongan-ji temple in the Eastern capital” and “Kajikazawa in Kai Province”. Each of them presents a unique Mont Fuji, from a certain place, distance, season, weather —leaving no doubt that the Mount belongs to the “floating world”, to that of change and multiplicity.
